She majored in English at Virginia State University and later returned to her hometown of Petersburg, VA, as an English teacher to show others the power of words. Her love for travel enhances her storytelling. As a little girl, she dreamed of seeing the world but never believed it was possible. “I remember learning about Stonehenge in my middle school literature books. Years later, I stood before it on my first solo trip abroad—and I cried. Who would’ve thought this little Black girl from Petersburg would see it in person?” She captures moments like these in poetry, blending movement, memory, and meaning into her creative works.
